GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB : The yoga instructor job description is to instruct all the students about the proper asanas and yogic positions that will help them to stay fit. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Yoga instructors have to teach their students about the various yogic positions and start them off with some basic steps They have to take into account the health problems of the students and teach them accordingly They also have to take the age of each student into account as their students can be anyone They have to monitor each of them carefully to ensure that they are doing the position properly They have to be experts themselves and have to be in great shape They mostly teach their students proper breathing techniques as they are most important aspect of yoga Yoga instructors also have to adhere to the rules and regulations of the place they work in Ability to teach a variety of yoga and meditation classes for all levels from beginner to advanced at the same time in once class. Instruct guests in proper use of all exercise equipment, including weight machines, free weights, cardiovascular machines, etc. Assist in proper yoga poses. Stay current in the latest fitness research and program developments Attend regular meetings as directed by the Fitness Manager Daily monitor of fitness department supplies and equipment with inventory and maintenance check list. Collaborate with Fitness Manager in the development of class scheduling and programming Maintain neatness and cleanliness of the fitness equipment, class studios and CWS. Conduct guest orientation of the Mind Body studios Provide guest hospitality and excellent customer service. Perform other general duties as assigned by the Fitness Manager Work cooperatively with all resort staff ESSENTIAL QUALITIES Friendly attitude. High energy. Sense of honesty and integrity. Customer service driven. Reliable team member. SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work all shifts and have a flexible schedule. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 200 hour Yoga Certification; Yoga Alliance Member. Two years’ experience leading Yoga classes. Ability to teach a wide variety of yoga levels. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to; sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. They are sometimes required to stand for long hours, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. It is also required that the employee be able to lift, turn, or exert force more than 30 pounds.
